National Bank Council
The highest governing body in the National Bank is the Council of the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia. The Council consists of nine members: the governor and the three vice-governors as executive members, and five non-executive members.
The Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia appoints the Governor of the National Bank on the proposal of the President of the Republic of North Macedonia. The Vice Governors of the National Bank are appointed by the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia on the proposal of the Governor. The non-executive members of the National Bank Council are appointed by the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia on the proposal of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia. The members of the National Bank Council are appointed for a term of 7 years with the right to re-election.
The powers and tasks of the National Bank Council are prescribed in Article 47 of the Law on the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The National Bank Council holds meetings as needed, depending on the National Bank activities, but at least ten times a year.
