Virtual regional workshop for statisticians
hosted by the National Bank of the Republic of Northern Macedonia
COVID-19 and Challenges of Compiling Statistics
11 December 2020
The National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia is hosting a regional workshop for statisticians dedicated to the statistical challenges amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims at bringing together compilers of statistics from the central banks in the region to share individual experiences, including alternative solutions to overcome challenges posed by the corona crisis.
The overall COVID-19 pandemic context affects the compilation and dissemination of statistics as well. At a time when statistics are most needed, many statistical systems are struggling to compile data while maintaining their quality. Suspension on surveys, lower survey response rates and delay in reporting are some of the gridlocks identified in the first wave of the corona crisis. This webinar will try to identify strategies for overcoming these issues, while focusing on the future challenges and solutions.
By sharing the specific problems encountered during the crisis and the individual solutions, this webinar will enrich the knowledge and capacity of the central banks in the region to address challenges that might come to the fore in the future.
This webinar will be attended by representatives of ten central banks from the region.
