From July 2017, the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia will start disseminating new detailed data sets of the stock of the residents' foreign securities investments
The National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia is continuously working at enriching the set of available statistical data consistent with the international statistical standards that are important for internal analytical purposes, but also for the public in general. In accordance with the latest statistical requirements for the publication of more detailed data on the residents' foreign securities investments, starting from July 2017, the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia will start disseminating new detailed data sets of the stock of the residents' foreign securities investments.
In the new data sets, data on foreign securities investments are primarily divided into equity investments (which includes: equity and investment fund shares) and debt securities (separately long-term and short-term), and then more elaborately divided according to the country of the issuer of the foreign security, the institutional sector of the domestic investor, as well as by currency in which the foreign security was issued. These data so far have been presented only at an aggregate level, within the report on the international investment position, in the "Portfolio investments, assets" item.
Thus, another step is being made toward increasing the elaborateness of the data and information available to the public in line with the NBRM strategic commitment on continuous improvement of the communication with statistical data users. These data, in accordance with the Advance Release Calendar, will be disseminated in the future on a regular semiannual basis.
