Given that in some media and social networks there have been posts commenting exchange rates on online platforms, we would like to emphasize that these online platforms are not a relevant source of information about the value of the denar. The posts on these online platforms do not result from real currency trading. The only relevant source of information on the denar exchange rate for the citizens and businesses is the exchange rate that we as a central bank publish on our website www.nbrm.mk. It reflects the prices of currencies from real trading on the domestic foreign exchange market. Currently, the middle denar to euro exchange rate is Denar 61.69.
We hereby call for conscientious and responsible informing as well as verification of reliability of the information sources. Any arbitrary interpretation of denar-related information can have adverse effects on our economy. We appeal online platforms not to be used as relevant sources of information and their publication of virtual rates not to be considered relevant. These platforms do not show the value at which foreign currencies are purchased on the domestic market i.e. with banks and exchange offices.
The denar exchange rate is stable and has not undergone any changes. As repeatedly stated, we have a range of instruments to guarantee that the denar to euro exchange rate will remain stable. We remind you that the foreign reserves crucial to maintaining denar exchange rate stability are high, twice as high as before the global economic crisis in 2008.
Citizens have to remain calm. Exchange rate stability has always been and will remain our priority. We assure you that the denar has been and will remain stable!
