During the forthcoming week, the National Bank will carry out several activities in order to celebrate thirty-one years of the monetary independence, i.e. the introduction of the Denar as a national currency and the independence of the National Bank, under the motto We Celebrate Denar!. The declaring of the monetary independence on 26 April is an important event for our country, and also an important step in the completion of its independence.
Over the years, the National Bank has been built and established as a modern, credible and internationally recognized, independent central bank, but also as an institution that encourages the scientific thought and work, the constant education and financial literacy. Hence, within the celebration week, the National Bank will also award the annual prize for young researchers for best paper in the field of macroeconomics and banks and banking systems.
For the path of the creation and the establishment of the Macedonian banknotes, two educational videos are made by the employees in the Museum of the National Bank, Maja Hadji-Maneva, Eftimija Pavlovska and Dijana Vancevska. The videos, in addition to being published, will also be delivered to schools across the country to serve in the further educational process for our history and currency.
In order to share the historic process and the values by which the policy makers in the monetary independence were guided, the National Bank prepared video-statements of some of those who participated directly in the process of establishing and building the monetary independence, the own currency, but also contributed and contribute to the affirmation of the National Bank as a modern and credible institution. The statements of all former Governors Borko Stanoevski, Ljube Trpevski, Petar Goshev, Dimitar Bogov, Anita Angelovska Bezhoska, of other social stakeholders such as Djevdet Hajredini, Trajko Slaveski, Mihail Petkovski, Abdulmenaf Bedjeti, Taki Fiti, Gligor Bishev, Vancho Kargov, as well as the perceptions of the Vice Governors Emilija Nacevska and Ana Mitreska will be published during the next two weeks on the social networks. Within the celebration, the National Bank will also publish documents from the Archive of the National Bank, related to the monetary independence, which are of inestimable historic value for the Macedonian history.
