The Governor of the National Bank, Anita Angelovska Bezhoska and the Minister of Finance Gordana Dimitrieska Kochoska, are heading the delegation that will represent our country at the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which are held in Washington, D.C., USA. The delegation also includes the Vice Governors Fadil Bajrami and Ana Mitreska.
The Governor and the Vice Governors already held a meeting with the representatives of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York - the largest bank in the US Fed. They discussed even better cooperation, especially payments and transactions in dollars, as well as the ways to manage government securities. There was also discussions about joint work in areas such as monetary policy, foreign reserve management, and risks and new trends in banking.
The Governor and the Vice Governors will have several meetings with IMF representatives. The delegation is scheduled to hold meetings with the Deputy Managing Director at the IMF, Bo Li, the Director of the European Department at the International Monetary Fund, Alfred Kammer, the Executive and Alternate Executive Directors, Jeroen Clicq and Marinix van Rij, as well as with the IMF team for our country. The Governor and the Vice Governors will also hold meetings with the representatives of the Departments of Statistics, Monetary and Capital Markets and Legal Affairs at the IMF, where the current achievements of the mutual successful cooperation will be shared.
Within the Spring Meetings, the delegation will also hold meetings with senior officials of the World Bank, the Vice President of the WB, Antonella Bassani, and the World Bank Division Director for the Western Balkans, Xiaoqing Yu. The delegation will also attend the regular meeting of the member states of the Constituency.
The Governor and the Vice Governors will also have meetings with representatives of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), in order to exchange experiences on intensifying financial and gender inclusion activities. The National Bank representatives will also participate in the World Bank's round table on strengthening regional cooperation in the field of payment systems.
The Spring Meetings are a significant opportunity for economic policymakers from the whole world to discuss important and current topics. The meetings of the World Bank and the IMF are especially important, where the progress in their work is being discussed. This year, the topic is: Jobs – The Path to Prosperity.
