The Coordinating Body of Financial Regulators for Financial Education and Financial Inclusion, in cooperation with the associations and the institutions from the private sector and the non-profit institutions active in the field of financial education, for the ninth consecutive year, celebrate Global Money Week, which this year is in the period 22 - 28 March. The theme of the Global Money Week for this year is: “Take care of yourself, take care of your money”.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the activities during Global Money Week this year, will mainly take place through e-lectures and publications of educational materials on the web sites of the institutions and on the social networks. The virtual educational lectures will be intended for the students from the elementary and secondary schools from our country on topics from the areas covered by the individual institutions, related to the functioning of the financial system.
The National Bank will deliver several educational lectures for the elementary school students, lectures and quizzes for the secondary school students, will publish educational contents in the serial “Economy for everyone”, as well as an educational animated video-material from the serial “With the National Bank in the world of finance”. During Global Money Week, the national competition for the European Money Quiz 2021 will also be held, in whose organizational activities the National Bank is involved as well.
On a global level, Global Money Week has been celebrated since 2012, with the sole interruption in 2020 due to the pandemic, whereby from 2021 it is being organized by the OECD. This global initiative, which has so far been celebrated in more than 175 countries in the world, raises the awareness of young people about financial education and increases their knowledge of money, savings, employment and entrepreneurship. Every year, young people discuss, read and learn about the economic and financial systems through various activities carried out by state, financial and educational institutions. The purpose of Global Money Week is to encourage young people to invest in their future, emphasizing the importance of financial education, which will help them become aware of their financial rights, facilitate access to financial services and develop their financial skills.
