The Financial Regulators for Financial Education and Financial Inclusion, in cooperation with the associations and the institutions from the private and civil sector active in the field of financial education the eleventh consecutive year, celebrate Global Money Week from 20 to 26 March 2023.
This year's theme Plan your money, plant your future is dedicated to sustainability and raising awareness of the consequences of individual financial behavior not only on the financial future, but also on the environment and society. Participants of the Global Money Week can take part in activities on this topic that will emphasize the importance of the financial decision regarding social, economic and financial sustainability. This topic encourages young people to take a long-term view and consider the impact on the environment and society when making their financial decisions.
The activities during Global Money Week also this year, due to the COVID will mainly take place through lectures and publications of educational materials on the websites of the institutions and the social networks. The lectures will be intended for the both elementary and secondary school and faculty students in our country, on topics covering the areas of individual institutions, related to the functioning of the financial system.
The National Bank, via virtual lecture, will organize an educational caravan for the students of the elementary schools in rural areas, educational quiz for the students of secondary school of economics and a virtual lecture for faculty students. During the Global Money Week, the national competition for the European Money Quiz 2023 will be held, in the organization of which the National Bank is involved, as well. In addition, the posts on the realized activities will be shared on the social media.
On a global level, Global Money Week has been marked since 2012, interrupted only in 2020 due to the pandemic, whereby it is being organized by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). This global initiative, which has so far been celebrated in more than 176 countries in the world, that covers 53 million children and young people, raises the awareness of young people about financial education and increases their knowledge in money, savings, employment and entrepreneurship. Every year, young people discuss, read and learn about the economic and financial systems through various activities carried out by financial and educational institutions.
