The National Bank has opened an Innovation Gateway – a communication channel with the fintech sector. The primary objective of this new and important project is to support and encourage innovation in ​​financial services and products. 

Companies that develop or apply innovations in financial services while using new technologies can now directly contact the National Bank and put forward suggestions at [email protected] regarding issues and dilemmas about fintech regulation. Dedicated National Bank experts will review and answer any question and suggestion received via the Innovation Gateway. If a need arises for an in-depth discussion about information provided via the Innovation Gate, the National Bank team is willing to meet with sector representatives.

Via the Innovation Gateway, the National Bank as a financial regulator will cooperate with the fintech companies. Despite providing guidance and navigation through the regulatory landscape, using this communication channel, the National Bank will permanently consider the need for changes to the regulation and for removing any regulatory barriers for entry into new innovative business solutions/projects, without disrupting the financial sector integrity, avoiding any excessive risk accumulation.

The interested companies, besides with the National Bank, could communicate with other financial regulators via the Innovation Gateway.

By introducing this platform, the National Bank is following the trends arising from the initiatives taken by the EU financial regulators, aimed at creating an environment of close cooperation among regulators, financial institutions and the fintech sector.
