“Published professional publications in the field of numismatics, monetary history and conservation are an important part of our consistency in the constant creation, upgrade, discovery and preservation of tradition”, said the Governor of the National Bank, Anita Angelovska Bezhoska at the promotion of the publication The Coins of the Argeads from the Numismatic Collection of the NBRNM by Eftimija Pavlovska, PhD, Curator in the Museum of the National Bank. Moreover, the Governor added that the National Bank supports the museum work in the activities for further dissemination of the knowledge of the long historical and evolutionary path of money, as one of the most important technological inventions of mankind, as well as of its characteristics typical of the local Macedonian territory. “We believe that the affirmation of the permanent civilization benefits from the past which in different ways formed the social constellations in an economic, cultural and technological sense, is our investment in the future”, the Governor said.
The Book The Coins of the Argeads from the Numismatic Collection of the National Bank, the first systematized publication on the ancient samples of coins that were part of the monetary system of the Argeads, was presented by the academician Vera Bitrakova Grozdanova, highlighting “Coins - an abundance of products, primary sources for the knowledge of the past, represent an advantage and superiority in relation to all other objects in the activity of mankind in the classical period”.
The author of the work, Eftimija Pavlovska, referred to the contents of the book, underlining: “The publication of the Argead coin collection of the National Bank Museum will make this material available for research and study by the scientific community, and will help inform the wider audience about some of the oldest units that have been discovered on today's Macedonian territory.”
The National Bank, in addition to the fulfillment of the main objectives of its mandate, also works on incorporating additional values into society by nurturing the cultural heritage. The Museum of the National Bank, for two decades now, has been working educationally with the permanent Museum exhibition, but also by issuing publications from which the general, but also professional public can understand the development of monetary systems and their standards in societies, the iconography and design of money through the past on this territory, which left their own mark on the history of the country. The numismatic collection of the Museum of the National Bank has been continuously enriching. Today, with its 22000 samples, it is the largest public numismatic collection in the country.
