Skopje, 3 October 2022   

The National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Central Bank of the Netherlands are organizing the Conference on Payments and Market Infrastructure for the fourteenth time, thus continuing the tradition of open and fruitful discussion about the challenges and opportunities brought by the global wave of digitization for financial services. This year, the 14th on payments and Market Infrastructure titled as: Flourishing Digital Payments Future shall be held on 4 and 5 October 2022. 

New payment technologies led by FinTech companies, which offer a wide range of payment products and services, will be the main topics of the international Conference, where policy makers and experts will share opinions on the need for openness of bank systems and enhanced authentication to customers, as well as the importance of security in the digital space. At this international event, which starts tomorrow, attention will also be paid to the need and expected benefits of the introduction of digital currencies of central banks.

The Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia, Anita Angelovska Bezhoska, the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Jorgovanka Tabakovic, and the Director of Payments and Market Infrastructure Division at the Bank of the Netherlands, Inge van Dijk, will make an opening speech at the Conference, with representatives of the European Central Bank and the central banks of the EU countries, the central banks of the countries of the region, the International Monetary Fund, the European Commission, the Bank for International Settlements, the embassies in the Republic of North Macedonia, domestic regulators, the domestic banking sector, as well as domestic and foreign non-banking institutions that are stakeholders in the field of payment services also taking part as participants.

Over the years, the Conference on Payments and Market Infrastructure has grown into a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences on current topics in the field of payments and promoting new ideas. The National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia undertakes numerous activities to support the modernization of the current payment infrastructure through the application of new tools of technological development, paying particular attention to monitoring the innovations and encouraging the development of payment services in our country.
