Today, at the Woodrow Wilson School, in the presence of the Governor of the NBRM, Mr. Dimitar Bogov and the Head of the Board of the Woodrow Wilson School, Mrs. Elita Masha, a Memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of social and financial education was signed.
Given the positive experience of cooperation between the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia with Aflatoun for this program, the Woodrow Wilson School, the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia and Aflatoun agreed to introduce a pilot program for social and financial education from 1st grade, for the first time in the Republic of Macedonia.
The purpose of the introduction of social and financial education through Aflatoun is to strengthen the skills and potential of children from an early age to improving the world through their financial literacy, which is becoming increasingly important in recent years. Although we live in an economic system that is rapidly changing globally, adults and children around the world have significantly lower level of economic knowledge, and schools and teachers do not pay enough attention to them, or they lack the tools to deal with this challenge. Despite the lack of knowledge of the economic situations, children and young people are increasingly faced with social, environmental and economic unsustainable system.
The project will be introduced for the first time in the Woodrow Wilson School, which for this purpose provided staff, equipment and facilities for students from 1st grade. It will be supported by the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia and Aflatoun through advices, trainings and paperworks.
In the future, the results of the Project are planned to be presented to the Bureau for Education Development and other schools in the country, in order to increase the impact and interest to introduce this program in other schools in the Republic of Macedonia.
