The approach to the conception of the museum exhibition is chronological, starting from the earliest specimens that were minted or used on the Macedonian territory, down to the issues of the contemporary Macedonian money. In such a framework, the exhibited coins thematically show different moments of the monetary, economic, military and the cultural history of the country. The permanent museum exhibition was opened on 25 April 2002 for the first time.
