On 26 July 1999, the National Bank, in cooperation with the Museum of Macedonia and the Numismatic Association "Pajonon", set its first exhibition of coins, placed in the Governor's office of the National Bank, and titled as "Numismatic Collection of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia". Within this exhibition, 235 coins were exhibited, chronologically arranged in six glass cases and published in the supporting catalog. Later the exhibition has been redesigned, so that today the following thematic areas are presented in eight glass cases:
- Coin Hoards discovered on the Macedonian territory;
- The coins of Paeonia and Macedonia;
- Roman denars;
- The Stobi Mint;
- Late Roman coinage;
- Byzantine emperors;
- Medieval coins;
- Contemporary jubilee coins.
