Governor Slaveski participates in the annual meeting of the IMF/WB Constituency to which our country belongs, under the motto Turning Uncertainty into Long-Term Opportunity, which is being held in Varna, Republic of Bulgaria. The meetings place emphasis on the maintenance of macroeconomic and financial stability amid global uncertainty, digital transformation, productivity and financial inclusion, as well as on the place of European economies in the global value chains.
Within the Annual Constituency Meeting, the Governor of the National Bank Trajko Slaveski held bilateral meetings with the Executive Director of the IMF Constituency Jeroen Clicq and the deputy Executive Director Marnix van Rij, as well as with the Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia Antonella Bassani, accompanied by representatives of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).
The meetings underlined that the preservation of price stability is the main prerequisite for sustainable economic growth and financial stability, especially amid increased geopolitical risks, uncertainty in the global economy and rapid technological changes. Governor Slaveski emphasized that the National Bank carefully monitors the domestic and international economic developments and takes all the necessary measures for the maintenance of price and financial stability, and contributes to preserving the confidence in the monetary system and stable conditions for economic development.
Subject matter of the meetings were also the current macroeconomic developments, the financial system resilience, the challenges related to the geopolitical developments, and the role of digital transformation in the support of economic growth and productivity. The good cooperation between the National Bank, the IMF and the World Bank in the implementation of the reforms and the strengthening of the institutional capacities, was also confirmed.
The Macedonian delegation also includes the Vice Governor Igor Velichkovski and the Deputy Minister of Finance Nikolche Jankulovski.
