Anita Angelovska Bezhoska, Governor of the National Bank, and Dragan Tevdovski, Minister of Finance, have attended the Economic and Financial Dialogue between the EU and the Western Balkans and Turkey at the Council of the EU in Brussels, today. This event is held every year within the Economic Reform Programme review of the EU candidate countries. This is a closing meeting for the annual assessment of macroeconomic policies and structural priorities attended by representatives of EU member states, the European Commission and the European Central Bank on the one hand, and representatives of central banks and relevant ministries from the Western Balkans and Turkey, on the other.
At this year’s Dialogue, the countries will present their assessments of the implementation of the EU guidelines for the Economic Reform Programme given at the Dialogue last year. The participants in the Dialogue are also expected to adopt common conclusions from this year's Program review cycle.
The event will also include a thematic discussion on structural reforms in the EU candidate countries aimed to attract foreign direct investments and strengthen their economies. Governor Angelovska Bezhoska will give address and take part in the discussion, touching on the central bank contribution in this area, both by maintaining price and financial stability and engaging in financial reforms.
In Brussels, she will also have meetings with colleagues from Europe with an aim to strengthen the international cooperation of the National Bank.
