The Governor of the National Bank, Anita Angelovska Bezhoska and the Minister of Finance, Fatmir Besimi, lead the delegation from our country that takes part in the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C., USA. The Vice Governor, Fadil Bajrami, will also take part in the National Bank delegation at these meetings.
The delegation will hold meetings with senior officials of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank Group and the International Finance Corporation as well as other international financial organizations and institutions.
At the upcoming Spring Meetings, the Governor Angelovska Bezhoska and the Vice Governor Bajrami will hold separate meetings with the Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Bo Li, as well as with the Director of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund, Alfred Kammer, and with the Executive Director to the IMF, Paul Hilbers. Subject matter of the meetings with the senior officials of the International Monetary Fund will be the economic situation in our country and the decisions of the monetary policy that contributes to gradual stabilization of inflation.
The National Bank delegation, led by the Governor, will also hold a meeting with the representatives of the Statistics and Monetary and Capital Markets Departments at the International Monetary Fund, where the current achievements and results of the mutual successful cooperation will be shared.
Within the Spring Meetings, Angelovska Bezhoska will also hold meetings with senior officials of the World Bank, the Vice President of the WB, Antonella Bassani and with the World Bank Group Executive Director to the Constituency, to which our country is a member, Koen Davidse. Also, the National Bank delegation will participate in the regular meeting of the Constituency member states, where the participants will discuss the challenges faced by the member states in the context of the current global financial and geopolitical developments.
Every year, the Spring Meetings gather in one place the policy makers, i.e. the governors of the central banks and the ministers of finance of the member states, who will discuss the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, the price crisis, the consequences of the war in Ukraine and the policies in response to these challenges in order to achieve growth, equality and progress.
