The National Bank Governor, Dr. Trajko Slaveski, paid a working visit to the Bank of England in London, with an aim to intensify bilateral cooperation and exchange experiences with one of the oldest and most prominent central banks in the world.
Governor Slaveski held several working meetings with senior representatives of the Bank of England, including Governor Andrew Bailey.
The visit agenda was primarily dedicated to the gold reserve management. For this purpose, the host organized a visit to the Bank of England’s gold vault, where the National Bank keeps its monetary gold reserves, with the aim of better understanding and gaining insight into the operational procedures for monetary gold storing and management, safeguarding and the opportunities that the Bank of England offers for access to the London Bullion Market as the largest global wholesale over-the-counter market for the trading of gold.
The Governor also held meetings with the Bank of England’s Chief Economist, Huw Pill, and with the Deputy Governor Sarah Breeden. The discussions focused on current challenges in the conduct of monetary policy and technological innovations in the financial sector.
The visit was arranged by the Bank of England’s Centre for Central Banking Studies (CCBS).
