Call for Papers
The National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia (NBRM) announces a call for papers for the 7th Annual Research Conference. This Conference is traditionally organized to mark the anniversary of the country's monetary independence. The Conference will take place in Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia, on 12-13 April 2018. It aims to bring together researchers from academia and policy-making institutions, with the sole purpose of enabling a ground for a debate on relevant economic issues.
In light of the ongoing global recovery from the last global crisis and the already started or announced monetary policy normalization in the advanced economies, considering the need to take a stock of the lessons learnt from the crisis and outline the spillovers and the eventual need for policy redesign to appropriately address the changing environment, next year's conference topic is titled Around a Decade After the Crisis: Heading to the New Global Cycle and Monetary Policy Normalization. The first day of the Conference will be focused on a high-level policy oriented panel discussions by distinguished guest speakers from international institutions, central banks or academic institutions, while the second day will be booked for presentations of papers. The papers submitted for the conference could be related (but not restricted) to the following topics:
- Monetary policy normalization - central banks’ challenges ahead;
- Financial stability and macro-prudential regulation;
- Central bank independence and communication;
- Fiscal consolidation and public debt sustainability;
- Globalization, capital flows and cross-border contagion risk;
- Structural reforms, competitiveness, investment and growth;
- Macroeconomic forecasting in a dynamic environment: challenges and innovations.
The organizing team would like to invite all researchers from academic and policy-making institutions to submit paper proposals. We solicit high-quality submissions, both empirical and discussion papers related to the non-exclusive list of broad topics suggested above. Interested researchers should submit their papers or extended proposals (min 500 words), together with a short CV, by e-mail at [email protected] no later than 1 February 2018. Authors of the accepted papers will be notified no later than 23 February 2018. The conference version of the paper and the presentation are expected by 16 March and 9 April 2018 for the paper and the presentation, respectively.
Please note that the NBRM will cover accommodation expenses for the selected speakers. The selected papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings Volume on the web site, subject to author/institution permission.
Sincerely,
Governor’s Office
