Tomorrow and the day after, the Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia, Anita Angelovska Bezhoska and the Minister of Finance, Dragan Tevdovski, will take part in the 24th Central and Eastern European Forum, which is organized by Euromoney in Vienna, Austria. This Forum is one of the leading events in the field of finance and it is attended by more than a thousand participants - central bank governors, finance ministers, managers of financial corporations and investors. The participants’ discussions and analyses are traditionally focused on the most important issues relating the markets in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
Governor Angelovska Bezhoska will be one of the four speakers of the first panel discussion devoted to monetary policy, whose focus will be on the implications of the end of quantitative easing in globally, the divergence of interest rates in the US and Europe, and the prospects for economic growth in the region. At the same time, high representatives of several central banks will talk about regional inflation and foreign exchange market perspectives, the implications of structural changes on payment systems, as well as the role of banks in monetary policy. According to the Forum’s program, this panel discussion will follow the foreword of the Governor of the Austrian Central Bank and a member of the Council of Governors of the European Central Bank, Ewald Nowotny.
At the Forum it will also be discussed other issues important for the CEE economies, with attention being paid to banking innovations and issues related to the future of banking systems. There will also be discussions on the current situation regarding capital markets - corporations - banking system relations, the impact of non-performing loans in regional and global frameworks and the programs for maintaining the stability of regional banking systems. According to the program, the Forum will also cover issues of economic growth in the CEE and the response to the monetary policy, the possible impacts of global trade wars, emerging markets in Europe and the current conditions with the CEE capital markets and the development of the green bond market. The Governor of the NBRM will be actively engaged in the discussion of some of these issues.
This traditional forum organized by Euromoney, due to the extraordinary number of participants, is considered to be a rare event of such a format that allows connecting economists interested in the CEE region - as representatives of the policy-makers, as well as representatives of the banking sector, participants in the financial markets and investors. Within her participation, the Governor Angelovska Bezhoska will hold more working meetings.
