The Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia, Anita Angelovska Bezhoska, PhD, within the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB), held meetings with senior representatives of the two international institutions, including meetings with the Executive Director of the IMF, Mr. Anthony De Lannoy, the Director of the IMF's European Department, Mr. Poul Thomsen, the Executive Director of the WB, Mr. Frank Heemskerk, the Vice President of the World Bank, Mr. Cyril Muller, the IFC’s Vice Presidents, Ms. Georgina Baker and Mr. Wiebke Schloemer, boards of directors from investment funds and banks, as well as with other senior representatives.
The Governor Angelovska Bezhoska also held meetings with the heads of several departments of the IMF, including the Statistics, Monetary and Capital Markets, and Fiscal Affairs Departments. Subject matter of these meetings were the results achieved from the current successful cooperation with the IMF and the possibilities for further promotion of the NBRM’s work, through technical and advisory cooperation in the areas of statistical reporting standards and improvement of economic forecasting models.
Together with the Minister of Finance, Dragan Tevdovski, PhD, the Governor of the NBRM led the delegation of the Republic of Macedonia at the Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank, held this year in Indonesia. The event was attended by governors of central banks and ministers of finance of the member countries of the IMF and the WB. The discussions were related to the sustainable growth of the economy at world, regional and government level, the reduction of poverty and the promotion of inclusive development for all target groups in the society.
