On 27-28 February 2015, the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia and other financial system regulators will host a workshop for journalists from economic editorial boards of television, print and electronic media, in cooperation with the European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE).
The aim of the workshop is to raise the level of financial literacy among the population of the Republic of Macedonia through cooperation with the journalists, as well. This workshop will give an opportunity to journalists to exchange views with professors of economics and experts from the National Bank and other financial sector regulators about specific indicators and phenomena in the economy and finance. The workshop will discuss issues related to the monetary policy in Macedonia, the macroeconomic analysis and the projection process in the National Bank, the statistical research and data, the external statistics, the role of market-oriented monetary instruments in maintaining price stability as the ultimate goal of monetary policy, the financial stability, and the role and functions of other financial institutions and their regulators, the transparency of domestic institutions and companies as a basis for better information and regional comparison, and issues in the field of financial system and crises. We expect all invited media to show interest and to participate in this workshop, which will be beneficial for the journalists and the economic editor boards, and thus for the public interested in information about economic trends and conditions released by the media.
