Today, 22 May 2018, Anita Angelovska Bezhoska has assumed office of Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia. Yesterday, at its 46th session, the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia voted for the proposal of the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov, with 81 vote in favor, not a single vote against and zero abstentions, Anita Angelovska Bezhoska to assume this responsible office. This is also a confirmation of the professionalism, which is necessary for the successful management and operating of the central bank. Today, Anita Angelovska Bezhoska took an oath of office in front of the Speaker of the Parliament, Talat Xhaferi, followed by transfer of the power of Governor of the National Bank. Upon transferring the power, the previous governor, Dimitar Bogov, wished her success in taking up challenges and successful governance of the central bank.
In her first media statement as a Governor, Angelovska Bezhoska said, I am rising to the challenge of implementing successful and independent monetary policy to achieve the legally prescribed objectives of the central bank such as price stability achieved through the strategy of maintaining a stable exchange rate of the Denar, maintaining the banking system stability, thus directly contributing to the overall financial stability in our economy, as well as supporting the general economic policies. I would also like to emphasize that all these successful policies implemented so far have been the result of the great institutional capacity of the central bank, owing to the long-standing investment of the strategic management of the institution in the human resources development. I will remain committed to capacity building, because it is the key to accomplishing our tasks.
After assuming office, today, the Governor Anita Angelovska Bezhoska has held her first meeting with the strategic management of the National Bank.
