Aleksandar Stojkov, PhD, is full professor in economics at the Faculty of Law "Iustinianus Primus" in Skopje, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje.  In October 2009 he defended the doctoral thesis on “Determinants of the Deficit on the Balance of Payment’s Current Account and Its Implications for Economic Growth: the Experiences of South Eastern European Countries”, at the Staffordshire University, UK. As part the study program, Stojkov has been staying for three months each academic year for research purposes and earned a postgraduate certificate in applying quantitative economic methods. Within 1 September 2010 - 1 March 2011 period, he stayed, for his postdoctoral researches, at the Inter-University Center for Research and Analysis of Organizations in Montreal (Canada).  During the research stay, he  has been working on the mega project for the cost / benefit estimations on the basis of the free trade agreement between Canada and the European Union. Simultaneously, Stojkov has been engaged in the Word Bank’s scientific project associated with the preparation of the study: “Golden Growth: Restoring the Lustre of the European Economic Model”.

Beyond the university career, Stojkov has three years of work experience on managerial positions in the government sector  - in the Budget Department and later, in the Macroeconomic Policy Department of the Ministry of Finance.  As a civil servant, he attended many trainings in the country and abroad, including the three-month specialization in the field of applied economics for which he received a special award for excellence, and the one-month training course in the field of macroeconomic analysis and policy, both at the Joint Vienna Institute, Austria.

Stojkov was an external advisor to the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy, World Bank, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Network of Associations of Local Self-Government Units of South East Europe (NALAS), European Commission, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Stojkov was a non-executive member of the Securities and Exchange Commission and a member of the National Board of Accreditation and Evaluation of Higher Education, Vice-Dean for International Cooperation and later Vice-Dean for Finance at the Faculty of Law "Iustinianus Primus" in Skopje Currently, he is an external member of the National Bank Council, a member of the research association Salzburg Global Seminar from Austria and the International Trade and Finance Association (ITFA).  He is fluent in English and in most of the languages in the region, and has knowledge in German.

Stojkov has been involved in the preparation of several government documents and analyzes, as well as in the preparation and execution of numerous domestic and international projects. He has published about forty articles in domestic and international peer-reviewed journals, mainly in the fields of international macroeconomics, public finance and the economics of intellectual property. The research uses econometric software packages "Stata 15", "Microfit 5", "EViews 8", "Limdep 10", "Dynare 4" and "MATLAB R2018a.
