Work experience:

May 2018: Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia

July 2010 - May 2018: National Bank of Republic of Macedonia, Vice-governor in charge of monetary policy, research and statistics. Member of the Monetary Policy Committee, and since 2012, executive member of the Council of the NBRM.

November 2006-July 2010: National Bank of Republic of Macedonia, Chief Economist. Participated in: monetary policy decision-making, preparing and monitoring the implementation of the macroeconomic projections of the NBRM; preparing various types of analyses and research work in the area of macroeconomic policies.

October 2004-November 2006: International Monetary Fund, United States, Special appointee to the European Department and Fiscal Affairs Department. During November 2004 - June 2006, economist in the European Department responsible for economic analysis and projections of monetary and fiscal sector. Participated in the IMF program - negotiation missions. During July 2006 - November 2006, involved in public financial management issues and projects.

2003 – 2004: Ministry of Finance, Macedonia, State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. Responsible for coordinating the work of most of the departments in the Ministry of Finance, including Budget, Treasury, Macroeconomic, Tax and International Finance Departments. Responsible for coordinating macroeconomic forecasting, budget preparation, budget execution processes and the negotiations and monitoring of the IMF programs.

2000 – 2003: Ministry of Finance, Macedonia, Head of the Treasury Department. Headed the implementation of treasury reforms: introduction of treasury single; establishment of commitment control system; development of cash management and forecasting; development of treasury bills market; implementation of revenue collection reforms; integration of extrabudgetary funds into budget; improvement of the general government accounting and reporting system by aligning it with the GFS requirements.

2000: Ministry of Finance, Macedonia, Budget analyst in the Budget Department. Responsible for budget analysis, preparation of annual budget document and supporting budget documentation, and leader of a task force in charge of establishing a treasury system in Macedonia.

1996-1999: Ministry of Finance, Macedonia, Economist in the Monetary and Financial System Department. Responsible for financial analysis and financial system reports, participated in the preparation of laws and regulations on financial system. Also, participated in negotiations on bilateral agreements on promotion and protection of foreign investments.


Since 2017: Member of the Board of the Trustees of the Business Council of the American Colleague Skopje

Since 2011: Alternate governor at the Board of the IMF

Since 2011: Member of the BIS Irving Fisher Committee on Statistics, Basel

2002-2004: Member/Chair of the Managing Board of the Deposit Insurance Fund, Skopje 2003-2004 Member of the Managing Board of the Health Insurance Fund, Skopje

Other activities:

Since 2006: Participated in a number of IMF technical assistance missions in the area of public finance system (Latvia, Belarus, Serbia, Bosnia, Albania, Moldova).

2009-2010: Teaching at the University American Colleague, Faculty of Economics, Skopje 

2004: Received an award from the US Embassy in Macedonia for the contribution to the development of the public finance management system in Macedonia

2004: Lecturing on public finance management at the Centre of Excellence in Finance in Ljubljana, Slovenia

2004: Head of the task force for issuance of the first credit rating of Macedonia 

2000-2004: Teaching at educational programs aimed at public administration of the Macedonian government

2000: Lecturing at Faculty of Economics in Belgrade, Serbia

2015: Economic Faculty, Ljubljana, Slovenia, Obtained PHD degree with the doctoral dissertation "Coordination of Fiscal and Monetary Policies in the Republic of Macedonia".

1994-1997: University of St. Ciril and Methodius Skopje, Macedonia, Postgraduate studies at financial managemnet department and obtained an MBA degree.

1991- 1994: University of St. Ciril and Methodius Skopje, Macedonia Undergraduate studies and obtained Bachelor’s degree in Economics. Received award from the Faculty for one of the three best students in the generation.


Attended many courses/seminars organised by the IMF, other international financial institutions and central banks on various economic topics, including monetary and fiscal policy issues, foreign exchange market, financial programming and public financial management. Attended six-month training on macroeconomics at Charles University in Prague, and had study visits at many ministries of finance of advanced economies.
